Results are In
I'm almost 23 weeks along & we saw Dr. Terry today. When I first saw the report he took out of my chart to read to me...I Had a total Panic Attack! In my line of work a lengthy report means a long list of what is NOT RIGHT. So I was happily surprised when he went through the entire report & everything was looking healthy & great! What a relief! You just never know what might be in store for you, ya know?! There are good people doing everything they can to be healthy & have a healthy baby & sometimes things just don't go as planned. We feel extremely fortunate! The only issue they are concerned about is how close my placenta is to my cervix. If it doesn't move up away from the opening there is a strong possibility I will have to have a C-section. Dr. Terry says we will do a follow up ultrasound around 31 weeks and check the placement of it. I'm not super excited about the possibility of a C-section but ya do what ya have to do I guess.

Baby BOY Bolerjack
Our super fabulous friends the Bolerjack's are having a baby too! It has been a long difficult road for them, and they truly deserve every happiness in life. This may sound crazy but Lori is truly the reason that Matthew & I are expecting a baby at all. Let me explain... Lori & Brian discovered they could not conceive naturally in 2008. They tried artificial insemination, fertility drugs & invitro with no success. It was heart breaking watch such a wonderful couple continually fall short of their dream to have a family. On a trip to Lake Powell the first of September, Lori and I had a talk about how difficult it had all been and offered me a little advice. She said, "Hey girl you aren't getting any younger and you want to know NOW if you could have struggles in the baby making department, trust me!" Up until that point I hadn't really felt a strong urge to start our family, and I was kind of waiting for that "ah-ha" moment to whisk me away into baby making bliss. I had never been pregnant, had an oops or a miscarriage. Maybe I couldn't even have a baby. I was rapidly approaching my 33rd Birthday, and well that ain't no spring chicken, if ya know what I mean! So Lori helped me down load a fertility app for my iPhone to help track the days that are the most desirable for "the deed" and we were off! September, October, November...ahhh...yep found out I was knocked up the day after my 33rd Birthday! What a shock! Lori took the news the hardest, of course. I could only imagine how frustrating it would be to hear from someone that had literally tried for a baby for 2 months, I'M PREGNANT! It hurt my heart so much to hear her cry & tell me how sorry she was for taking this happy moment so personally. I was devastated that this could be the end of our friendship. Luckily Lori & Brian were scheduled for a 2nd try at invitro in December, and I told Lori, "I know that god made you wait for me to get my crap together and get pregnant, so we could be pregnant together. I truly believe that this round of invitro will work, and we will be prego buddies." She didn't believe it, but tried to be optimistic. They followed through with their scheduled invitro, and had to wait til Christmas Day to take the pregnancy test to confirm it worked. I thought, seriously there is no way this can go wrong, CHRISTMAS DAY, there is no way it can fail...it's too perfect! I have to say that call from Lori Chrismas Day from her in-laws in Vernal was one of the scariest days of my life! It was so amazing to hear her scream, "IT'S POSITIVE! WE ARE HAVING A BABY!" We both cried, and I will never forget how full of love and gratitude my heart was. It was one of the happiest days of my life. We are 6 weeks apart almost to the day! What a miracle :)
Fast forward to March...Lori & Brian were sweet enough to let me join them at the ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby. Matthew and I already knew we were having a boy. Brian said he knew he was having a boy & Lori knew for sure it was a girl. When the tech scanned her belly, I knew what I saw but waited...IT'S A BOY!!!! Brian & I were extatic!!! We jumped up and chest bumped & screamed. Lori was much more cautious, of course before any celebration. "Are you sure, are you really really sure???" She couldn't believe it. What a special day!!! What amazing people, I just love The Bolerjack's!

We're Back
I am 19 weeks, woo hoo! I had a follow up ultrasound to check on my Placenta Abruption situation today and things are looking better. Baby Smith measured exactly 19 weeks. He was active, kicking and punching...so cute! Matthew was so excited to see him in action for the first time, it really is so amazing to watch. The Dr. will give me the results of what they saw at my next appointment, but the tech said she didn't see anything alarming. My belly is measuring right on the money & baby's heart rate is 153. Dr. Terry released me to go back to work on March 9th, so only 1 more week of taking it easy (thank goodness). I am so excited to get the nursery going! We haven't done any shopping, seriously I'm not even joking!

Belly Belly Little Belly
I am 18 weeks today & thought I better get some belly shots on here so everyone can have a good laugh at my expense!
18 weeks 2 days
All we need is just a little patience
I am 18 weeks along today. I have had a pretty enjoyable pregnancy so far.
I haven't felt sick or pukey. I feel extremely lucky for that! My appetite is definitely healthy. No problems eating here people! Before I was pregnant, I was very strict with my diet. Now that I'm "Knocked Up" my discipline has laxed A LOT! I have been eating pretty much what ever I want. I think my cravings have been pretty normal...If you consider wanting to eat MEXICAN food for every meal normal?! Arriba! I've had more burritos, chips & salsa in the last 4 months than I think I've had my entire life! And those freakin Reese’s peanut butter hearts for Valentine's...yikes, I've scarffed me down a few BAGS of those! I know once the baby is here, it will be back to the grind so I figure I'll try and enjoy it while it lasts.
My energy level is much higher than it was my 1st Trimester. (I was in bed by 6pm every night.) Before I was pregnant I was working out 4 or more days a week. I haven't felt that energetic, but I have managed to work out 1-3 days a week. I had to give up the stair master for walking on the treadmill on an incline for 30 minutes while carrying 8 lb hand weights and doing some arm exercises. After my walk I do Abs and weight training rotating Arms, Legs & Back on different days. My weight gain definitely makes my workouts more challenging, but I won't complain because I know it's only going to get worse!
I have noticed the fact that I am a bit more emotional than usual. Crying during comercials, crying over Matthew trying to reorganize the kitchen, just random funny things. I guess it's all the hormones. Luckily Matthew has been very understanding and helpful!
We had a bit of a surprise today...
I had to leave work to get an emergency ultrasound. I was experiencing some bleeding and the Dr. wanted to make sure everything looked ok. I was terrified that something was very wrong and it took all my courage to even look at the screen while the ultrasound was being performed. I was relieved when I saw the babies profile but then I instantly thought What if there is no heart beat?! I couldn't even prepare for the idea of losing our precious baby boy. I was so thankful to see and hear his strong beautiful heart beat & get the answers I was so anxiously awaiting. The ultrasound revealed that I have Placenta Abruption. This happens when some of the placenta separates from the uterine wall, which increases the risk of cutting off oxygen from the baby. The separation is small so treatment is BED REST. Usually the problem with time will remedy itself but there is no guaranty that I will be able to go back to work. The Dr. is going to re evaluate everything in 1 week so for now I am home sitting or laying down ONLY. I am trying to stay up-beat, but it's really hard when you can't do anything you normally do. It's challenging to be stuck at home all day and night with no outlet. No laundry, No dishes, No making the bed, No cooking...it sounds like every wife's dream right?! But I really struggle to feel of value when I can't do the things that make me so happy as a wife. Matthew has been so amazing; I don't know how he is dealing with this so well. This is his busiest time of year & I can't do anything to make it easier on him. I am so bored, but I've been trying to take this opportunity to read, look at baby stuff online & watch movies. Wow, I really miss my job too...and it's only been 2 days!

Drum Roll Please
I am 14 weeks 3 days along, whew! Time seems to be flying! I had an ultrasound today to determine the sex of our baby. Matthew wasn't able to come to the appointment so I had the tech print a picture of the results and seal it in an envelope. We opened it together at Matthew's office. We are so ecstatic to announce...IT'S A BOY!
The ultrasound was such an amazing experience. I was in shock to see how much Baby Smith has grown. He has long legs & was kicking them! It took my breath away! Seeing his little face & nose & mouth! It's so hard to believe I am actually growing a person in my belly! We are so stoked to meet Baby Smith! This will be the 1st Boy grand-baby on my side of the family so my parents, siblings and 3 nieces are extremely excided! On Matthew's side there are 4 boys and 3 girls so we will have to do our best for a girl next round to try and even things out. I am going to attempt to document my quickly growing belly; hopefully I won't chicken out as things start to get really LARGE. This is supposed to be fun, right?!14 weeks 3 days
